Long-Distance Learning

I get so excited for "back to school" season! Seeing all the paper, pencils, notebooks and all the frilly things you find are just so exciting! Too often I find myself picking up books and finding places that I think would be so wonderful for my students. Then I reality hits. I stepped away from "teaching" over a year ago and it still feels like a few months ago. Time flies. Like really fast.

My friend and I began discussing what it would take to start a school here in our town. Much to look into and figure out still.

Then I got a phone call. I've been invited to join a family in their homeschooling journey and teach their sweet kiddos math and language! I'm pretty stoked as this will allow me to work from home doing something I absolutely love to do. Navigating long-distance learning will be new to us but I am up for the challenge and look forward to accumulating materials for the kids and my future school someday!

Do I Dare?

Do I dare share my thoughts with the world? The "what if's" fill my thoughts but then I think, what about the Guide [or Directress, a.k.a Teacher] who longs to know if she or he is not the only one? What if they do not have the amazing support that I have at work? Then I think, yes, I will share my thoughts in hopes that someone someday may be comforted, validated, and encouraged. Because let's face it, we are not perfect know-it-alls and need each other from time to time. Even if just to know someone else shares your insecurities or concerns as you try to guide the children as best you can with what you know. Especially when we are ourselves being shaped and molded into better men and women than we were from the time we accepted our position at school, [hopefully].
